AMIDSHIPS, adverb. (nautical) In the middle of a ship, either longitudinally or laterally.
AMIDSHIPS, adverb. (nautical) Usually in the line of the keel, but sometimes halfway between bow and stern; often contracted to “midships.” (FM 55-501).
